Sins of the San

This news feature looked at the role of natural medicine in Namibia by profiling a group of displaced San people. They had been chased off the farms they had been living and working on by people from the Ovambo tribe. Finding themselves homeless for several months, they were eventually provided shelter by a Namibian charity in a disused public swimming pool. A charity was providing them with food through a subsistence scheme, but the manager was taking most of the produce for herself, and the weak and sick couldn’t afford to get to hospitals to get medical treatment, thus forcing them to revisit traditional remedies.
